  Library East Entrance

Lake Tahoe Community College opened its new 5,300 square foot facility in September 2006. The library building is equipped for wireless technology. The library houses twenty-five public computers, several group study rooms, a video conferencing room, the Teaching & Learning Resource Center for faculty, an audio-visual viewing room and a cozy fireside reading area.

The collection contains over 60,000 items, covering a wide spectrum of subjects that pertain to the college curriculum. The book collection strengths are in the visual arts, fiction, the classics, and American history. Special collections include an aisle of children’s and Spanish language items, music on LP and CD, and rare, out of print books about Tahoe. Thanks to donations from individual library users, a small, but growing, popular movie collection on both DVD and video, is available for free checkout.

Information services are offered at the reference desk. The reference desk is operated as a teaching station where online research skills are taught to one and all. Online resources include about 11,000 full-text journals and magazine subscriptions plus encyclopedias and art images.

Library services and borrowing privileges are extended to all members of the Lake Tahoe community.
